The Bulls 37-10 (12-6), completed the sweep of ECU today, beating the Pirates 6 to 3. Peter Strzelecki pitched a great game and the offense, with Tyler Dietrich driving in the runs, did the rest.

In the first inning, the Bulls opened it up, scoring 5 runs to start the game. Tyler Dietrich and Coco Montes each had 2-run singles in that opening frame. In the 2nd, it was 5 to 2 as ECU got on the board, but USF made it 6 to 2 in the 6th on an RBI single from Luke Borders. In the 9th, the Pirates added a run to make it 6 to 3, but a double play was turned by the USF infield to end the game.

Kevin Merrell was 3 for 5 and scored a run. Man, when he is in the batting order, it makes such a huge difference. Luke was 2 for 5 with an RBI and scored a run. Dietrich went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored a run.

Peter Strzelecki (2-2) pitched his best game of the year, going 8.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, walking 1 and struck out 10 batters. He was locked in all afternoon and ECU struggled all day at the plate. Andrew Perez worked the final two thirds to close it out.

USF will now head to Gainesville to take on the Gators on Tuesday night (game begins at 6:30 PM).

This was a huge series for the Bulls as they continue to battle for the top spot in the AAC standings. Now they hit the road for the rest of the regular season, so it won’t get any easier down the stretch.
