Time for a huge 3-game series to start.

The Bulls, 34-10 (9-6), are set to end the regular season portion schedule at home as they host ECU for three games starting on Friday night. Their game against FGCU on Wednesday was cancelled thanks to a busted pipe behind the mound that kind of flooded the infield a bit.

ECU is 24-21 (4-11) entering this series. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 PM followed by game two on Saturday at 6:30 PM followed by the finale on Sunday at 1 PM.

ECU is batting .301 as a team entering the weekend and have a staff ERA of 4.40 (.254 average against them). Here are their top bats to watch for this weekend:

Eric Tyler – Senior – INF – Tyler is batting .361 with 14 doubles, 4 home runs, has 27 RBIs and has scored 31 runs.

Charlie Yorgen – Senior – INF – Yorgen is batting .355 with 11 doubles, 3 home runs, has driven in 30 runs and has scored 34 more runs.

Travis Watkins – Senior – C – Watkins is batting .323 with 10 doubles, 6 home runs, with 36 RBIs and has scored 35 runs on the season.

Here are key arms to watch all weekend:

Trey Benton – Freshman – RHP – Benton is 3-3 (3.60 ERA) and has thrown 60 innings, allowing 48 hits, 27 runs, 15 walks and has struck out 62 batters.

Jake Agnos – Freshman – LHP – Agnos is 2-2 (2.45 ERA) and has thrown 47.2 innings, allowing 40 hits, 21 runs, 24 walks and has struck out 46 batters.

Chris Holba – Sophomore – RHP – Holba is 3-1 (2.13 ERA) with 1 save while throwing 38 innings, allowing 35 hits, 9 runs, 6 walks and has struck out 42 batters on the year.

Thoughts: ECU is a young team, but can put up some runs and can flat out hit. The tone will need to be set by the USF starters in this series because ECU is a team that can score. They will be looking for the upset in this weekend series and the Bulls, as they honor the seniors this weekend, need to make sure that does not happen.

Side note, let’s hope the sprinklers are all fixed for this weekend because these games are really important.
