The Bulls, 22-6 (11-4), end the regular season with a game against the top ranked Uconn Huskies (game is at 7 PM on ESPN 2). The Huskies are 28-0 (14-0) and beat USF 102 to 37 in the first meeting. Here we go.
USF is averaging 72. 6 PPG while allowing 59.4 PPG. The Huskies on the other hand are averaging 85.5 PPG and allowing 53.5 PPG. We know who they are and what they did to the Bulls in the first game so be prepared for a tough one.
Leading Uconn is sophomore guard/forward Katie Lo Samuelson (6’3″) who is averaging 20.9 PPG (90 for 213 3-point range), 3.8 RPG, with 44 steals on the year. She had 19 points and 3 rebounds in the first meeting. Sophomore forward Napheese Collier (6’1″) is averaging 19.8 PPG, 8.9 RPG with 52 blocks, and 51 steals on the year. She had 18 points and 6 steals in the first game. Junior forward Gabby Williams (5’11”) is averaging 12.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG with 145 assists (72 turnovers), 76 steals, and has 36 blocks on the year (had 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists in the first game). She can score and defend, just like the rest of the Uconn team. They are the best and it will take an epic game from USF to even get close to them.
USF got hammered in the first meeting, there’s no way to sugar coat it. Maria Jespersen had 11 points and was the leading Bull in that game. Others like Laia Flores and Kitija Laksa were silenced and never got going in the game. I know what will probably happen in this game and you probably have the same idea. I just hope the Bulls give them a fight and at least push them while avoiding any injuries before the AAC tournament and the postseason.
