The Bulls, 7-1, won 11 to 2 to complete the 4-game sweep over Miami (Ohio). The pitching was impressive once again and the offense continued its big weekend at the plate.
In the first, USF was down 1 to 0, but answered it with a home run from Coco Montes in the bottom of the inning. It was just that kind of weekend for the Bulls. In the 2nd, Chris Chatfield hit a solo home run to make it 2 to 1. In the 3rd, Luke Borders hit a sac fly to make it 3 to 1 as the offense continued to pour it on.
In the 4th, Garrett Zech hit a 2-run double followed by an RBI double by Kevin Merrell and then scored on a Montes RBI single to make it 7 to 1. In the 7th, Antony Gonnella drew a bases loaded walk to make it 8 to 1. Clay Simmons then hit 2-run double to make it 10 to 1. In the 8th, Cam Crabbe made his debut, hitting a solo home run to make it 11 to 1. In the top of the 9th, Miami made it 11 to 2 but was already over at that point.
Kevin Merrell was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI and stole a base. Coco Montes was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Stunkel was 2 for 4 with the double and scored 2 runs. Seriously, everyone got involved and it was just a great way to end a huge weekend.
Peter Strzelecki went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, walking 1 batter and struck out 6. Noah Yager (1-0) went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit, 2 walks and struck out one batter. Collin Sullivan replaced him, going a clean inning. Ryan Valdes replaced him, striking out all three batters he faced. Mark Savarese went the last inning, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and struck out one batter.
The Bulls will host Toledo for a 3-game series starting on Friday night starting at 6:30 PM as they look to keep this streak going in front of the home crowd.
