The Bulls in the second day of the Michele Smith Tournament took both of their games, beating Hofstra and Oklahoma State to improve their overall record to 6-3 on the season.
In the first game against Hofstra, the Bulls 7 to 5 to improve to 5-3 on the year (rain delays pushed this to a later start). USF went ahead 2 to 0 in the first on a 2-run home run from Bethaney Keen to get it started. In the third, Hofstra had tied it at 2 to 2, but the Bulls would answer back in the 6th with Keen driving in a run, followed by Kassandra Moeller hitting a 3-run double, to be followed by a Morgan Gross RBI single to make it 7 to 2. Hofstra would make it 7 to 4 in the bottom of the inning and then 7 to 5 in the 7th, loading the bases, but the Bulls escaped with the win.
Astin Donovan was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Keen was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Lauren Evans was 2 for 3 and scored a run. Kalen McGill went 2.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 2. Cheyenne Eggens (1-1) went 3.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 2. Hannah Parker (S 1) went the final inning, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2 batters.
In the second game against Oklahoma State, the Bulls won 12 to 4 in 6 innings as Lindsey Devitt went to work.
In the 2nd inning, Morgan Gross drove in the first run to put USF ahead 1 to 0. Cassidy Boyle then hit a 2-run triple to make it 3 to 0. In the 3rd, Sam Worrell drove in a run to make it 4 to 0, however, the Cowboys tied it 4 to 4 after a tough bottom half of the inning. But the Bulls came roaring back. In the 4th, Kelsey Lay drew a bases loaded walk to make 5 to 4. Bethaney reached on an error to make it 6 to 4 and then Lauren Evans drove in a run to make it 7 to 4. Lindsey Devitt then hit a grand slam to make it 11 to 4 as the Bulls broke it wide open. In the 6th, Devitt drove in another run to run rule Oklahoma State.
Kristen Wyckoff was 2 for 4 with a run scored and stole a base. Evans was 2 for 4 with an RBI and scored 2 runs. Devitt was 2 for 3 and drove in 5 runs total. Hannah Parker went 2.2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, and walked 3. Susan Wysocki walked 2 batters in her brief relief appearance. Kalen McGill (1-2) went the final 3.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2 batters for her first of many USF wins.
