USF baseball, 23-31 (8-16), fell 3 to 2 to Uconn as the Huskies completed the sweep to end the regular season. The Bulls will now hope to keep their season alive in the AAC tournament next week.

In the 3rd, Uconn went up 1 to 0. In the 5th, David Villar launched a 2-run home run to put USF ahead 2 to 1. In the 7th, Uconn took the lead again, going up 3 to 2. The Bulls would not be able to muster a comeback after the Huskies took the lead late in the game. Being swept is never fun, especially ending the regular season.

Garrett Zech was 1 for 4 with a steal. Luke Borders was 2 for 4 overall in the game. Duke Stunkel Jr. was 1 for 4 and scored a run. David Villar was 1 for 2 overall with the 2-run shot and drew 2 walks on the afternoon. USF just could not get enough late again in this game to avoid the sweep.

Joe Cavallaro went 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 4 walks and struck out 3 batters. Mike Clarkson (1-4), on senior day for him, went 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. Tommy Eveld went the final 2.2 innings, allowing a hit, 1 walk and struck out one. The pitching was not bad today, it was just the Huskies got just enough and the Bulls could not answer at the plate for their own.

The regular season is now over and now the Bulls will prepare for the AAC tournament. They will play on Wednesday at 11 AM with the opponent yet to be determined. Stay tuned for the latest on the tournament and for the next game of the season for our Bulls.
