Alex Mut is a senior receiver that has had a long career at USF, but is still looking for his first career catch. Will it happen in 2016?
#84 Alex Mut – 6’3″ 195 lbs. – Senior – Wide receiver – Port Charlotte, FL (Charlotte HS)
2015: Mut played in 10 games last year, mostly on special teams. He did not record a reception.
Recruiting history: Mut has a long recruiting history. He was a 3-star recruit back in 2012 and had a high school career where he had 154 catches for 2610 yards and 27 touchdowns and 103 tackles with 19 interceptions and 29 passes defended. He tore his ACL before the season began, but enrolled, taking a grey shirt when he arrived (did allow another player to take a scholarship as he rehabbed the knee) and then redshirted in 2012.
2016 Projection: Mut was not listed on the two deep coming out the spring practices, again reflecting the depth the Bulls have at wide receiver entering the center. I would guess that Mut contributes mostly on special teams this year and could see some spot duty at wide receiver. I would love to see him get that first career reception before it is all over so hopefully Coach Taggart and the offensive staff are able to make that happen at some point this season. He deserves it. He has stayed with the program since the Skip Holtz days, so you are damn right he deserves a reception.
