Elkanah Dillon emerged last year at the beginning as a big, physical pass catcher. He battled injuries during the year but returns more seasoned and ready for a big performance in 2016.
#85 Elkanah Dillon – 6’5″ 245 lbs. – Sophomore – Tight end – Ocala, FL (Vanguard HS)
2015: After a redshirt in 2014, he played in 10 games last year, catching 9 passes for 208 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
Recruiting history: Dillon was a 3-star recruit (per Rivals) in the 2014 class. He caught 45 passes in his senior season for 596 yards and 6 touchdowns. Before picking USF he had offers from Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Purdue, among others.
2016 Projection: Dillon is listed as the starter coming out of the spring, but he will battle Mitchell Wilcox for playing time and possibly the starting job. With that said, Dillon will see plenty of time this year after Sean Price and Marlon Pope graduated (whether he starts or is the number two). Dillon is a big, athletic pass catcher that has the ability to stretch the field and can be a big target down the middle for Quinton Flowers in the passing game. As long as he can stay healthy and continue to develop, he should have a big season in 2016.
