The Bulls, 21-28 (6-13), fell 14 to 7 to ECU as they dropped their 6th game in a row. USF had the lead early, but the Pirates jumped on the USF staff and just ran away with this game.

In the first inning, Luke Maglich drove in Kevin Merrell to put USF ahead 1 to 0. In the 2nd, Merrell hit a sac fly, allowing Joe Genord to score, making it 2 to 0. In the 3rd inning, Luke Borders hit a 2-run home run to extend the USF lead to 4 to 0. In the 4th and 5th, ECU tacked on two runs to make it 4 to 2, but in the 6th, Borders hit an RBI single and Coco Montes tacked on an RBI single himself to extend the lead out to 6 to 2. Merrell then added another RBI on a single to extend that lead to 7 to 2. In the 6th, ECU got after Sanders to make it 7 to 5 and forced a pitching change with no outs in that inning. Andrew Perez came in but struggled as ECU tied the game at 7 to 7. Dylan Burns replaced him, but he struggled as ECU made it 9 to 7 as they rallied back to take the lead. They then extended it to 11 to 7 as things continued to get bad for the pitching staff. In the 8th, ECU extended it to 14 to 7. Things got bad, real fast.

Kevin Merrell was 3 for 4 overall with 2 RBIs and scored a run. Luke Maglich was 1 for 4 with a run driven in. David Villar was 3 for 5 and scored 2 runs. Luke Borders was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs overall and scored 2 runs in the game with the home run being the biggest blast. Joe Genord was 2 for 5 with a run scored.

Phoenix Sanders went 5 innings, allowing 12 hits, 7 runs, 2 walks and struck out 2 batters on 89 pitches (55 for strikes). Andrew Perez allowed 1 hit, 3 runs, and walked 2 batters, failing to record an out. Dylan Burns went 3 innings to close out the game, allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks and struck out 2 batters.

The two sides will battle tomorrow at 4 PM as USF attempts to regroup after this tough game.
