The Bulls, 21-27 (6-12), has lost 4 straight as they hit the road to take on ECU, 30-17-1 (11-6-1). The first game is Friday at 6:30 PM, followed by 4 PM on Saturday and 11 AM on Sunday. This could be a long weekend for the young Bulls if they do not get things together this weekend.

The Bulls enter the weekend batting .247 as a team and have an ERA of 4.03 as a team (opponents are batting .243 against them). ECU is batting .288 as a team and have a staff ERA of 3.26 (opponents hitting .242 against them). ECU can pitch and hit and will make life tough for the Bulls who are struggling a bit.

ECU is led by freshman outfielder Dwyana Williams-Sutton who is batting .359 with 9 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, with 23 RBIs and has scored 23 runs on the season. Senior outfielder Park Lamm is batting .320 with 4 doubles, 21 RBIs, has scored 20 runs and is 10 for 13 in steal attempts. Redshirt junior catcher Travis Watkins is batting .311 with 14 doubles, 3 home runs, 26 RBIs and has scored 33 runs on the season. ECU has a lot of solid hitters that have both power and speed and have the overall ability to just get on base. The USF pitching staff will be challenged from start to finish this entire weekend.

Leading the pitching staff for ECU is junior LHP Evans Kruczynski is 5-1 (1.40 ERA) and has thrown 83.2 innings, allowing 70 hits, 18 runs, 15 walks, and has struck out 72 batters on the season. Junior LHP Jacob Wolfe is 6-3 (2.34 ERA) and has thrown 77 innings, allowing 65 hits, 29 runs, 21 walks and has struck out 51 batters on the year. Closing games is sophomore RHP Joe Ingle who is 5-3 in 24 games and has 11 saves (2.59 ERA) and has thrown 41.2 innings, allowing 24 hits, 16 runs, 23 walks and has struck out 57 batters. The ECU staff is solid from both starters to closers. Opponents are 30 for 49 in steal attempts so the Bulls might be able to get some runners in scoring position, but they have to get on base first.

Let’s see what happens in this series. It won’t be easy for the Bulls, but maybe they can pull off some upset games in this series.
