Rodney Adams emerged last year as the go-to wide receiver in the passing game, setting a new single season record in the process. He is poised for even greater things in 2016.
#87 Rodney Adams – 6’1″ 190 lbs. – Senior – Wide receiver – St. Petersburg, FL (Lakewood HS) (Toledo)
2015: Adams started all 13 games last year, catching 45 passes for 822 yards (18.3 yards per catch) and 9 receiving touchdowns. He also had 466 kick return yards as well.
Recruiting history: Adams was a 4-star recruit (per 247 Sports) coming out of high school and was 1st Team All County and 2nd Team All State in both his junior and senior seasons. He recorded 1200 yards in his senior season (2013) before going to Toledo after receiving offers from across the state and beyond. He decided to transfer closer to home after the 2013 season and received a hardship waiver, allowing him to play right away.
2016 Projection: Adams is slated as the starter at the slot receiver position and I don’t see that changing entering the fall. Adams is a gifted receiver with explosive speed that allows him to tear up the yardage both after the catch and in the return game. He became the big home run threat for the Bulls last year and could have an even bigger year with the offense getting better with more talent around him. Teams won’t be able to focus on him, which could lead to a lot of big passes down the field.
