The Bulls will need young playmakers to step up at the tight end position this season. Mitchell Wilcox could be the man to answer that call.
#89 Mitchell Wilcox – 6’4″ 236 lbs. – Redshirt freshman – Tight end – Tarpon Springs, FL (Tarpon Springs HS)
2015: Wilcox redshirted last year.
Recruiting history: Wilcox was a 3-star recruit (per Rivals) in the 2015 recruiting class. He was a two way player for Tarpon Springs, recording 21 catches for 347 yards and 3 touchdowns during his senior season while recording 61 tackles (16.5 TFL) on the defensive side of the ball. Wilcox also had offers from Ball State and Miami (OH) (per Rivals).
2016 Projection: During the spring, Wilcox split first team snaps with Elkanah Dillon and is listed as the number two tight end on the depth chart entering the fall. He is a gifted athlete with good size that could make him an ideal middle of the field target for Quinton Flowers in the passing game. He and Dillon will battle for the starting job and no matter who wins it out, expect to see plenty of Wilcox this season making plays down the field.
