We stay on the defensive line as we take a look at junior defensive end Mike Love. Can Love move up the depth chart this year or will he continue to be a rotational player?
#98 Mike Love – 6’4″ 266 lbs. – Junior – Defensive end – Clearwater, FL (Countryside HS)
2015: Love played in 12 games last year as a reserve totaling 10 tackles, with 1.5 TFL (1 sack), and 1 PBU. He appeared in 3 games in 2014 after missing most of the 2013 season after undergoing knee surgery.
Recruiting history: Love played his prep ball right across the bay, becoming a 3-year starter during his prep career. The 3-star recruit (per Rivals) had offers from other program including WVU, Louisville, Cincinnati, and others.
2016 Projection: Love is listed as the third string defensive end coming out of the spring behind Juwuan Brown and Kirk Livingstone. With that said, despite not being listed as a starter going into the summer, if he stays healthy and continues to work, Love will see the field this year and will be a top contributor for the defensive line that needs as much depth as it can find. He will battle this fall for that starting job and will create the competition we all want to see.
