The Bulls, 43-13 (15-3), fell 5 to 3 in 9 innings to Central Florida in the regular season finale. The Bulls could not take advantage of a bases loaded opportunity late in the game and fell in extras.
In the first, the Bulls went ahead 1 to 0 on an RBI single from Juli Weber to get the scoring started. In the third, Erica Nunn hit a 2-run single to make it 3 to 0. In the 4th, Central Florida tied it up at 3 to 3. In the 7th, the Bulls were able to load the bases but were not able to get a run across as the game went into extra innings. In the 9th, Central Florida hit a 2-run home run to go ahead 5 to 3 late in the game against the Bulls and the Bulls could not score a run late to keep the game going.
Kristen Wyckoff was 1 for 5 in the game and scored a run. Astin Donovan was 2 for 4 and scored a run. Juli Weber was 3 for 5 with an RBI and scored a run as well. The Bulls had the lead early but could not just get a run later in the game. That 7th inning was that chance, but they just couldn’t get a run across.
Cheyenne Eggens went 4 innings, allowing 4 hit, 3 runs, and walked one batter. Erica Nunn (26-9) went 5 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and struck out 2 batters.
This is the regular season finale, now its time to prepare for AAC tournament time! It will be about two weeks before USF returns to the field so they will have a while to rest up and prepare for what comes next. The season is far from over.
