The Bulls, 43-12 (15-2), won 4 to 1 over Central Florida today to even the series but more importantly, the victory secures the 2016 regular season title for the Bulls. Congratulations ladies!
In the 1st inning, the Bulls went up 2 to 0 after an RBI sac fly from Erica Nunn and an error that allowed Astin Donovan to score. In the 4th, Lee Ann Spivey hit another home run (the home run champ!) to make it 3 to 0. In the 5th, Central Florida got on the board on a solo home run, but the Bulls got it right back as Astin doubled in Amber Donovan to make it 4 to 1. The USF pitching would take over after that as they bounced back after the tough game the night before.
Kristen Wyckoff went 0 for 2 but did draw a walk and scored a run. Astin Donovan was 2 for 2 with an RBI and scored a run (batting second in the game). Lee Ann Spivey was 1 for 2 with her solo home run. The offense did just enough to help them get the victory and lock up the title.
Erica Nunn (26-8) went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run, and struck out 4 batters. Cheyenne Eggens went 2 innings, allowing just 2 walks and struck out a batter. The pitching was much better in this game and was able to keep the Central Florida bats in check in this one. It was a great team victory.
The two sides will take on Central Florida tomorrow in the regular season finale at 5 PM. USF has secured the regular season title, but they will want to defend home field, end the season in a big way, and of course, beat that team from down the road.
