The Bulls, 42-11 (14-1), completed their sweep of Tulsa, winning 5 to 2 in the final game of the series. Erica Nunn did it in the circle while Lee Ann Spivey took care of the rest at the plate.
In the 2nd inning, the Bulls scored two after a Lee Ann Spivey (now the all time leader in program history, I had added that to the story yesterday and had incorrect data) and an Astin Donovan RBI double. In the bottom inning Tulsa tied it at two a piece and that would be the score until the 7th inning. In the top of the 7th, Spivey was able to score on an error to give USF a 3 to 2 lead. After that, Monica Santos added a 2-run home to make it 5 to 2 and secure the lead for good at the end of the. It was another great game and a tough battle by the AAC leaders.
Juli Weber was 1 for 2 with a run scored and drew 2 walks. Spivey was 1 for 2 overall in the game and scored two runs (congrats to her on the home run history as well). Santos was 1 for 3 and drove in 2 runs on that home run blast. Donovan was 2 for 3 overall with an RBI. The batting order did again for the Bulls, as they got production from up and down the order.
Cheyenne Eggens went 3.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. Erica Nunn (25-7) went 3.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2 as she collected her third win of the weekend. Eggens started it and Nunn locked it down in another strong showing from the USF staff, as they did all weekend long for the Bulls.
The Bulls will host Central Florida on Friday night (game begins at 4 PM) to begin the final regular season series of the year.
