The Bulls, 39-10 (11-1 in AAC), are on the road for a top match-up against the Florida Gators (game begins at 6 PM). The Gators are 41-3 this year (13-2 at home). They beat USF back on February 14th 11 to 4 in 5 innings. The Bulls will be wanting another chance at the Gators but it won’t be easy.
USF enters the game batting .339 with a staff ERA of 2.43 (opponents are batting .227 against them on the year). The Gators are batting .323 on the year and have a .84 ERA (.159 against them). This is going to be a really tough test for the Bulls in this game.
The Gators are led by sophomore utility player Kayli Kvistad who is batting .427 with 5 doubles, 9 home runs, 48 RBIs, and has scored 16 runs on the season. Freshman outfielder Amanda Lorenz is batting .389 with 10 doubles, 4 home runs, 34 RBIs, 41 runs scored, and is 9 for 10 in steal attempts. She was 0 for 2 in the first game, scoring a run and driving in another. Junior outfielder Justine McLean is batting .367 with 6 RBIs, with 20 runs, and is 9 for 11 in steal attempts. She was 1 for 3 with a run scored in the first game. Erica Nunn and the pitching staff will have a tough task in this game to slow down the UF bats. They are just very good.
The UF pitching staff is led by sophomore Aleshia Ocasio who is 14-1 on the year (.49 ERA) with 5 saves and has thrown 99 innings, allowing 65 hits, 10 runs, 17 walks, and has struck out 99 batters. Junior LHP Delanie Gourley is 13-2 on the year (.76 ERA) and has thrown 100.2 innings, allowing 48 hits, 14 runs, 31 walks, and has struck out 43 batters. She went 3 innings in relief against the Bulls in the last meeting, allowing a hit, 2 walks, and struck out 4 batters. The Gators have several arms that ERAs under 1, so this is going to be a real tough test for the USF offense.
UF is the best team in the country, so it will be interesting to see how the Bulls perform on the road in Gainesville.
