The Bulls, 38-10 (10-1), won 3 to 0 today over the Memphis Tigers. Erica Nunn dominated in the circle again and the bat of Lee Ann Spivey did the rest for the offense.
In the 3rd inning, Kristen Wyckoff double, scoring Cassidy Boyle to put USF up 1 to 0. In the 4th inning, Lee Ann Spivey hit a solo shot to push the lead to 2 to 0. In the top of the 7th, Spivey did it again with another solo shot to put the Bulls ahead 3 to 0. That would be all the offense would need as Erica Nunn dominated in the circle once again.
Wyckoff was 1 for 3 with the RBI double. Lee Ann Spivey was 2 for 3 overall with the two solo home runs. Lauren Evans was 2 for 3 overall in the game. Cassidy Boyle, after a 3 for 3 night the night before, went 1 for 3 with a run scored in this game as she continues to hit well in the lower half of the order. USF got just enough offense as they took the series today and continue to stock pile the victories. They are on another level right now.
Erica Nunn (22-6) went all 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 11 batters. She was in control from the start to the finish and put together masterful performance. She has truly become the ace of the staff and can go out every day and give USF a quality start.
The two sides will battle on Sunday at noon in the series finale as USF goes for the series sweep. If they can get another quality start out of their arms and the offense can get going again, they should fair well as they look to remain at the top the tough AAC standings late in the year.
