The Bulls, 7-2, are back in action as they take on Mississippi State (game begins at 4:30 PM). The Bulldogs are 12-1 on the season and will be a tough opponent as the Bulls return to action after the holiday break (the game is up in Jacksonville today). USF enters the game averaging 75.9 PPG (allowing 60.4 PPG) and 45.3 RPG (allowing 33.1 RPG). The Bulldogs are averaging 82.8 PPG (allowing just 50.8 PPG) and 45.2 RPG (allowing 32.6 RPG). These two teams are high scoring and tough defensively, making for a very interesting matchup before 2016. This game won’t be easy for either side.
MSU is led by sophomore guard Victoria Vivians (6’1″) who is averaging 17.8 PPG (36 for 101 from 3-point range), 5.2 RPG and has 5 blocks along with 16 steals. She is a tall guard that is not afraid to hit baskets from long range. Junior center Chinwe Okorie (6’5) is averaging 8.5 PPG, 6.4 RPG and has 6 blocks. Her height will be a big time challenge for the Bulls in the paint, especially for Alisia Jenkins who is averaging 13.3 PPG and 14.3 RPG. Sophomore guard Morgan William 95’5″) is averaging 8.5 PPG, 2 RPG, and leads the team with 71 assists (27 turnovers) and has 16 steals. She runs the offense and will be a key player to shut down on offense to slow down their big time offense.
For the Bulls to get a huge victory over a ranked foe, they will need their stars to have monster games. Courtney Williams who is averaging 24.3 PPG and 9.1 RPG, along with Jenkins, have to take over the game on both ends of the court and not allow the Bulldogs to have clean looks at the basket and limit them to just one shot per possession. It won’t be easy, but the Bulls have the talent needed to pull off this upset.
