The Bulls, 6-2, are on the road for a west coast trip as they take on Northern Colorado (game begins at 9 PM). The Bears are 5-4 entering this game.
USF is averaging 76.9 PPG (allowing 62.2 PPG) and 46.1 RPG (allowing 32 RPG). The Bears are averaging 65.7 PPG (allowing 60.3 PPG) and 34.2 RPG (allowing 38.4 RPG). Northern Colorado is a tough defensive team, averaging 8 steals per game. They also have 9 3-pointers a game, so the perimeter defense of the Bulls will be tested in this contest.
The Bears are led by senior guard Kyleigh Hiser (5’9″) who is averaging 10 PP (21 for 54 from 3-point range), 3.2 RPG, 2 APG, and has 4 steals on the season. Sophomore guard Savannah Scott (5’7″) is averaging 10.6 PPG, 4.2 RPG and has 14 steals (tough defensive player). Junior forward Kourtney Zadina (6’2″) is averaging 9.3 PPG, 2.3 RPG, and has 5 blocks (key match-up for Alisia Jenkins in the paint). Keep an eye off the bench for junior guard Katie Longwell (5’6″) who is averaging 7.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 3.3 APG, and has 7 steals. She is a spark on offense and defense.
The key for USF, as it is for every game, is to let Courtney Williams and Alisia Jenkins take over the game. Williams, named to the AAC honor roll this week, has been leading all season on offense and the rebounding machine, also known as Jenkins, has been cleaning up the paint. They will need to keep it going and get contributions from Laura Ferreira, Kitija Laksa, and others. If they can do that, should be able to take care of business in this game.
