The Bulls, 5-2, won 101 to 79 over Penn State, as USF continues to roll at home to start the year. Courtney Williams and Alisia Jenkins took over and it was over after that.
In the first half, USF led 53 to 35 as the Bulls hit 48% of their shots, including 15 out of 18 free throw attempts. To end the game, USF shot 55% while holding Penn State to 40% from the field. The Bulls ended the game 27 for 32 at the charity stripe and won the rebounding battle 41 to 23. The Bulls did commit 17 turnovers, but thanks to their hot shooting, were able to overcome the mistakes.
Courtney Williams led the way with 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists (she is a monster). Alisia Jenkins had 21 points and 14 rebounds as she continues to get closer to the all time rebounding mark in the USF record books. Shalethia Stringfield had 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists (no turnovers) off the bench. Maria Jespersen had 10 points and 3 rebounds. Kitija Laksa had 18 points (3 for 7 from 3-point range) with 2 rebounds off the bench, adding a spark for the Bulls.
The Bulls will have a week off before they host Chattanooga on Sunday (game begins at noon). The Bulls are starting to get on a roll and the off week will let them prepare for a very good Chattanooga team on Sunday afternoon.
