The Bulls, 4-2, are undefeated at home this year as they host 3-4 Penn State on Sunday afternoon (game begins at 3 PM). USF has been dominate at the Sun Dome and will look to continue that trend.
USF is averaging 75.5 PPG while allowing 64.3 PPG. They also average 46.3 RPG while opponents are averaging 34 RPG. Penn State is averaging 69 PPG while allowing 67 PPG. They also average 37 RPG while opponents are averaging 38.4 RPG. The Bulls should have the advantage in the paint for this game.
Penn State is led by freshman guard Teniya Page (5’7″) who is averaging 15.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG, has 36 assists (17 turnovers) and 15 steals. She will have to contend with Laia Flores and Courtney Williams in the backcourt, making life tough for her (could slow down the Penn State offense). Junior forward Peyton Whitted (6’3″) is averaging 13.6 PPG, 10 RPG, and has 4 blocks and 10 steals on the season. Joining her in the paint is junior forward Kaliyah Mitchell (6’2″) who is averaging 9.6 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and has 4 steals on the season. They will be facing Alisia Jenkins who is coming off of a monster 20+ point and rebounding performance in her last game. If she has anything close to her last performance, Jenkins will be able to dominate the paint for this game.
USF has been up and down this season to start, dropping two tough road games yet winning strong at home. They have a chance to get some real momentum going in this game and can get a small winning streak started if they play their game and let Williams and Jenkins attack the basket. I think the Bulls will have enough firepower in this game to take care of business and get another win the in the record books.
