The Bulls, 1-4, got their first win of the season on Tuesday night after beating Albany. Well, now it gets a lot tougher with a road game (in Miami, starting at 5 PM) against the top ranked Kentucky Wildcats. This could get bad.

USF is averaging 66 PPG while opponents are averaging 70.8 PPG. The Bulls are 29 for 96 from 3-point range, hitting just 24% of their shots from long range. The Bulls average 43.8 RPG while opponents average 38.2 RPG. USF has had success in the paint but won’t have that ease in this game with Kentucky. The Wildcats average 79 PPG while opponents average 62 PPG. They  also average 41.8 RPG while opponents average 28.8 RPG.

The Wildcats are led by freshman forward Labissiere Skal (6’11” 225 lbs.) who is averaging 14.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and has 11 blocks on the young season (one of those top ranked recruits that Kentucky always has). Sophomore guard Tyler Ulis (5’9″ 160 lbs.) is averaging 14.2 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 4.8 APG, and has 7 steals on the season. Freshman guard Jamal Murray (6’4″ 207 lbs.) is averaging 13.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 4.3 APG, and has 8 steals on the season. They are a very talented team that will be tough to go up against.

For Coach Antigua going against his old club, it will be an opportunity for this young team to get experience against one of the elite programs in the country. He should get his players into the game, let them get the experience, and use this as a learning tool. I just hope the score doesn’t get too bad late in the game.
