The Bulls, 0-3, continue this opening home stand as they host Boston University, 1-2 (game begins at 7 PM). The Bulls have struggled throughout the first three games on both ends of the court and are looking to turn it around in this game.
USF enters this game averaging 67 PPG while giving up 71 PPG. They also average 46 RPG and allow just 41 RPG. Boston University is averaging 76 PPG and allowing 80 PPG. They are also being outrebounded 34 to 39.3 RPG through the first three games. USF should have the advantage in the paint in this game.
BU is led by senior guard John Papale (6’3″ 195 lbs.) is averaging 18 PPG (14 for 28 from 3-point range), 2.7 RPG and has a block. With his size at the guard spot, he will be a tough test for the Bulls’ backcourt. Freshman guard Kyle Forman (6’1″ 170 lbs.) is averaging 15.7 PPG, 4 RPG, has 19 assists (9 turnovers) and 2 steals on the season (runs their offense, but is young). Senior forawrd Nathan Dieudome (6’7″ 235 lbs.) is averaging 11.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG and has a steal on the season. He is their big body in the paint that will be tested against the USF front court.
For the Bulls to win this game, they need to attack the paint more. Through three games, they have taken nearly double the number of three point attempts as they did last year after 3 games. And here is a note, USF was 3-0 last year, so, take that for what its worth. I think the Bulls need to feed Cousins, Perry, and Guerrero, and take the threes when Boston crowds the paint and lets them stand wide open from long range. I’m not a coach, but it’s something I think they need to at least try more often.
