The Bulls, 15-4-3, fell 2 to 1 to FGCU in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. It was the second straight year in a row the Bulls lost after the opening game of the tournament. This one hurts (especially for a senior laden team) after such an incredible season.

Things started fast for USF as FGCU scored an own goal to put the Bulls up 1 to 0 in the first half. However, 5 minutes into the match, FGCU tied it on a penalty kick to make it 1 to 1. USF stayed aggressive on the attack and led the half 12 to 7 in total shots, but a second penalty kick in the first half put FGCU ahead 2 to 1 at the half. In the second half, the Bulls went all out on offense, getting several looks, but shots went just wide or high for them. USF ended the game with 22 shot attempts compared to 11 for FGCU, but sadly the Bulls could not find the back of the net. Trudi Carter led the Bulls with 6 shot attempts. Olivia Chance, one of the many seniors on the team, totaled 2 shot attempts in her final game as a Bull. Kat Elliott ended the game with 4 saves, but just wasn’t able to come up with a save on those penalty kicks in the first half.

It was a tremendous season for the Bulls that ended once again in the first round. The ladies played their hearts out and the USF nation is very proud of them. It was a great year and a fun one to follow along for the journey. Thank you, ladies.

A full season recap will be following soon for this team. Again, thank you ladies for a great season and congrats on reaching the postseason for just the third time in program history.
