The Bulls dropped an ugly game to SMU, falling 83 to 49. The loss puts USF at 6-8 (0-1) on the year after this 39-point defeat. USF has lost 7 of the last 8 as the offense continues to stall during this rough stretch.
USF shot just 36% for the game while allowing the Mustangs to shoot 52% for the game. SMU was able to execute and get easy looks while everything USF did was contested and tough. USF was just 2 for 16 from 3-point range (12.5%) as the long range woes continue. The Bulls were out-rebounded 37 to 28 and committed more turnovers, 17 to 12, in the game. It was just an ugly game with foul trouble early and often for the Bulls as Coach Antigua and his young team got another learning lesson.
Anthony Collins had 2 points and 5 assists (4 turnovers) as he struggled to find his offense. Corey Allen had 7 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Chris Perry had 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks but battled foul trouble throughout the game (like most of the team did early and often). Nehemias Morillo had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Bo Zeigler had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Troy Holston had 8 points and 3 rebounds.
Ben Moore had 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead SMU.
USF will host ECU on Saturday at 7 PM as they try to come back after this ugly loss.
