Per report: USF finds its new defensive coordinator

Posted: December 15, 2014 in Football

Per reports, USF has found its new defensive coordinator in Ole Miss linebackers/special teams coach Tom Allen (nothing official yet from USF).

Allen has over 20 years of coaching experience that he brings to USF. Before he joined the Ole Miss staff, he was on the Arkansas State staff  and spent the year before that as the defensive coordinator at Drake. Allen has history with Tampa. He was the head coach for the Tampa Heights High School team (team now gone) and was the linebackers coach at Armwood from 1995-1996. He has a strong reputation as a great recruiter and coming back to the Tampa area could help the Bulls in their recruiting efforts.

There is nothing official yet from USF, but if the media reports are true, this is a great hire for the job. Allen is a well-respected coach, has a long history, knows the area well and has been an excellent recruiter over the years. He will be a great addition to the USF staff.
