Allen has over 20 years of coaching experience that he brings to USF. Before he joined the Ole Miss staff, he was on the Arkansas State staff and spent the year before that as the defensive coordinator at Drake. Allen has history with Tampa. He was the head coach for the Tampa Heights High School team (team now gone) and was the linebackers coach at Armwood from 1995-1996. He has a strong reputation as a great recruiter and coming back to the Tampa area could help the Bulls in their recruiting efforts.
There is nothing official yet from USF, but if the media reports are true, this is a great hire for the job. Allen is a well-respected coach, has a long history, knows the area well and has been an excellent recruiter over the years. He will be a great addition to the USF staff.
