After a week off, USF got back in the win column after beating the College of Charleston 67 to 47. The Bulls are now 7-3 on the year after jumping out to a big lead and holding firm in the 2nd half.
USF shot 36% from the floor overall, but were just 8 for 28 from 3-point range (28.6%). The low 3-point shooting is something USF can work on. The Bulls were even with the Charleston in rebounds at 42 to 42, but USF held the edge in turnovers at 16 for the Bulls and 22 for Charleston. Those mistakes led to easy points for USF and they took full advantage of it.
Laura Ferreira led the way with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Maria Jespersen had 12 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Courtney Williams had 12 points, 8 rebounds and added 4 assists. Alisia Jenkins had a quiet game with just 4 points, but added 7 rebounds and a team high 6 steals. Tamara Taylor had 14 points and 3 steals and Laura Marcos Canedo added 3 assists and a block.
USF will host Northern Coloardo on Wednesday (game begins at 7 PM) as Coach Fernandez and his team try to make it two in a row.
