The Bulls are back on the road as they head to Detroit to take on the Titans (game begins at 3 PM). USF is 5-2 on the year while Detroit enters the game at 5-3 with a 3-1 mark at home this year. Detroit beat USF last year in Tampa, 65 to 60 (game begins at 3 PM).
The Titans are led by senior forward Juwan Howard Jr. (6’5″). Howard is averaging 19 PPG, 4.9 RPG and has 7 steals. He had 12 points and 6 rebounds in the win in Tampa last year and will be a matchup issue in the paint once again in this game. Junior guard Anton Wilson (6’5″) is averaging 12.4 PPG, 4 RPG and has 11 steals on the year. Corey Allen was quiet in the last game against Alabama when he had to go up against a bigger backcourt. He will be facing the same challenge in this game with Wilson (Allen had just 6 points and 4 rebounds in last year’s loss).
Sophomore point guard Matthew Grant (6’1) is averaging 4.5 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 3.1 APG and has 9 steals. He had 5 points last year and will be a key player to stop for Anthony Collins. Senior guard Brandon Kearney (6’6″) is averaging 8.5 PPG and 2.5 RPG this year as well. A player to watch in this game for the Titans is freshman guard/forward Paris Bass (6’7″). He is averaging 12.5 PPG and has 15 steals on the year coming off of the bench, giving the Bulls something to worry about after time outs.
The USF offense struggled in the game last year. Chris Perry had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks off of the bench. Anthony Collins had just 5 points and 3 assists (3 turnovers) as well, numbers that will have to improve if the Bulls want to get a road victory. This game will also be a homecoming for Bo Zeigler, a Detroit native. Zeigler is averaging 6.1 PPG and 5 RPG, so he could have the chance to show off in front of his home crowd when he steps on the court in this game.
