As the regular season come to an end, the Bulls will be playing their first of the last two games to close out the 2014 season at home. USF, 13-17 (7-11) will try to add a few more wins before the year ends but it won’t be easy with 22-10 (12-6) Memphis in town. The Tigers beat USF ins 3 straight sets back on October 19 (game begins at 7 PM).
Memphis is led by freshman outside hitter Kate Gibson who has 350 kills, 19 assists, 26 service aces, 339 digs and 73 blocks on the year. She had 9 digs and 2 assists in the first game. Freshman outside hitter Oluchi Agomuo has 310 kills, 287 digs, and 53 blocks on the year. She had 3 kills and 3 digs in the first match. Senior libero Aleksandra Petronijevic has 117 assists and leads the team with 675 digs on the year. She had 16 digs in the first game. Junior setter Veronica Zimmerman has 92 kills, 1307 assists, 23 service aces, and 331 digs on the year. She had 3 kills, 16 digs, and led the team with 32 assists in the last meeting.
Memphis did a good job taking Erin Fairs out of her game. She had 4 kills and 14 digs in the match. Priscilla Ehieze led the Bulls with 7 kills, but it wasn’t enough. For USF to pull off the upset win here, they will need to get Fairs into the game more and have her take control. This is going to be a tough battle, but with USF back home playing for the seniors for these last two games, they should have the energy and might be able to get the victory.
