Scouting Memphis: Special Teams

Memphis has a very solid special teams unit. For the Bulls who struggled to field punts and kick offs in the last game against SMU, they will need to know who they are facing off against in this game. Let’s learn more about their players.

Place kicker – At place kicker is sophomore Jake Elliott (5’10” 160 lbs.). He is 16 for 24 in field goals with a long of 53 yards. He has also kicked off 65 times with 34 of them going for touchbacks. Behind him is freshman Spencer Smith (6’1″ 185 lbs.).

Punter – At punter is Spencer Smith. He has punted 46 times, averaging 40.5 yards per kick. He has a long of 58 and has landed 16 kicks inside the opponents 20 yard line. Behind him is freshman Evan Michael (6’1″ 215 lbs.).

Long snapper – At long snapper is sophomore Trevor Morgan (6’1″ 210 lbs.) who started every game last year. Behind him is Sam Billings (6′ 215 lbs.).

Punt return – At punt return is senior wide receiver Keiwone Malone (5’11” 155 lbs.). He has 25 returns for 198 yards on the year. Behind him is senior wide receiver Joe Craig (5’11” 175 lbs.) who has 3 returns for 82 yards.

Kick return – At kick return is Joe Craig. He has 11 for 249 yards on the year. Joining him is sophomore receiver Sam Craft (6′ 205 lbs.) who has 1 for 23 yards and senior defensive back Bobby McCain (5’11’ 190 lbs.) who has 13 returns for 326 yards (leads the team).
