USF MSoccer falls to Tulsa on PKs in AAC tournament championship

Posted: November 16, 2014 in Soccer

The Bulls lost to Tulsa in penalty kicks (5 to 6) to lose the AAC tournament championship. USF, 10-7-3 (4-3-1) had their chances in the game, but couldn’t come up with a shot late in the game and came up just short in the PKs.

The Bulls held the edge in shots throughout the game, rallying late to take that lead for the game at 15 to 12. However, they couldn’t get one past Tulsa. Spasoje Stefanovic played well, making 6 saves during the game and living up to the keeper of the year title he had earned. Yet, despite the strong regulation and OT performances, he couldn’t make a stop on the penalty kicks.

This is another tough loss for the Bulls. Both the men’s and women’s teams lost the title game on penalty kicks (at least no one flicked off the camera in this one). USF will now have to wait and see their fate for the NCAA tournament. They have a very strong resume, but nothing is every promised.
