The Bulls, 12-6-1, are hosting ECU in the semifinal round of the AAC tournament at Corbett Stadium (game begins at 7:30 PM). The Pirates, 12-7-1 on the year, beat Memphis 2 to 1 in their last game to advance to this round. USF beat ECU just a week ago on senior day, winning 2 to 0 to cap off the regular season. They are hoping to repeat the feat and get a chance to compete in the AAC championship game on Saturday.
ECU is led by junior forward Kendall Frey. Frey had 8 goals on 32 shot attempts during the regular season and added 2 assists. Sophomore forward Lana Spitler has 8 goals on the season (32 shot attempts) and has added 2 assists as well. Senior midfielder Lexi Herring has 2 goals on the year (13 shot attempts) and has 1 assist. Senior midfielder/forward Brianna Spitler had 2 goals to round out the heart of their offense. Katarina Elliott has been solid for the Bulls all year long and kept ECU off the board in the last meeting. She will need to be at her best in this game and keep them silent once again.
In net for ECU is senior Erika Lenns. Lenns has allowed 12 goals during the season while making 48 saves. She is their primary keeper but junior Saundra Baron can play as well. Baron has allowed just 6 goals during the year while making 30 saves, splitting time in net with Lenns. USF was able to get two goals against them thanks to the efforts of Olivia Chance and Sarah Miller in the last game. They will need another big effort from them and the others like Leticia Skeete (had 2 goals in the last game against Cincinnati) in order to pull off the win. This game is huge for the ladies and is the next step as they attempt to get to the NCAA tournament.
