The Bulls couldn’t hold on late as 9/10 Kentucky rallied to beat USF 61 to 57. USF finishes the Paradise Jam tournament with a 5-2 record after they put on an impressive display over the past three days.

USF shot just 29% in the 2nd half and was out-rebounded 44 to 38 in this game, taking away any second chance opportunities the Bulls could get in the game, especially down the stretch. The Bulls battled, but came up just short in this game.

Courtney Williams led the way for USF with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Shalethia Stringfield had 7 points and 3 rebounds, getting the start again. Alisia Jenkins had 6 points and 5 rebounds as she dealt with foul trouble throughout the game. Tamara Taylor had 8 points and 2 rebounds. Shavontae Naylor had 6 points and 6 rebounds. Laura Ferreira had 7 points and 5 rebounds in the game as well.

It was a strong showing for the Bulls in this tournament. Now they get to return home to face Stetson on Wednesday at 7 PM.

USF MBB beats Jacksonville

The Bulls improved to 5-1 on the year with a 79 to 65 win over Jacksonville. Coach Antigua became the first USF coach to get his 5th win in 6 games in program history as the Bulls took control late in the 2nd half and never looked back.

The Bulls shot 48% from the field while holding the Dolphins to 34% for the game (defense locked them down big time in the 2nd half). USF was just 4 for 14 from the 3-point line and was out-rebounded 42 to 37, two things they will have to work on moving. However, they had just 8 turnovers in the game compared to 15 for Jacksonville as USF took care of the ball late in the game and came away with the strong win.

Anthony Collins had 13 points, 7 assist (just 1 turnover), and 5 steals as he ran the offense to perfection late in the game. Corey Allen Jr. had a career high with 29 points and 3 rebounds. Nehemias Morillo had 12 points and 5 rebounds as he continues his consistent play to start the year. Bo Zeigler, getting his first career start, had 6 points and 8 rebounds. Chris Perry had 8 points and 3 rebounds as he dealt with foul trouble early in the game. Ruben Guerrero had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and a team high 4 blocks off of the bench to help on both ends of the court.

USF will now hit the road again as they face Alabama on Tuesday night at 9 PM.

The Day After: 2014 is finally over

The season is now over after USF was shut out for the first time in 5 year, falling to UCF 16 to 10. The Bulls finish the year at 4-8 (3-5), their 4th straight losing season. There is no postseason for this program, just another losing one after a season finale that summed up everything that we have seen all year long. I will keep this ending rant short and direct. The Bulls beat Cincinnati in 5 sets to win the final game of the regular season on senior night. The win caps the regular season at 14-18 (8-12) on the year.

Erin Fairs had 14 kills and 20 digs to end the regular season on another strong performance. Dakota Hampton had 15 kills and 13 digs in the win. Jennica Mullins had 9 kills and 5 blocks in her final home game of her career. Adyson Goodnight and Priscilla Ehieze both had 7 kills each. Bree Scarbrough had 5 kills in her final home game of her brief career as well. Alex Mendoza had 32 assists and 4 digs in the game. Natalia Soares had 23 assists. Wylie Devlin had 20 digs to cap the win for the Bulls.

This was a solid win for the Bulls to end the regular season.

It’s senior day for the USF Bulls. For the last time in their careers, 19 players will be suiting up and taking the field at Raymond James for the final time in their collegiate careers. Let’s take a quick moment to recognize this senior class as they take the field one last time as a USF Bull. (more…)

Game Day: UCF

Posted: November 28, 2014 in Uncategorized

It’s senior day for the Bulls and the last game of the year for the Bulls. They are playing an early one with a noon kickoff against the school up I-4, UCF. USF lost by 3 points last year on the road in Orlando. The Bulls will want to return the favor in the last game of the year (hopefully the turkey won’t slow them down from yesterday). Will the Bulls come out strong in this game or will the Knights strike first and throw the Bulls off for the rest of the game? Its been an up and down year for USF and in the final game, let’s hope there is one more up in them.
