Special teams are always important and in what could be a very tight game, they will be even more important. The USF special teams will have to be sharp in this game and will have to get better in protection both on punts and kicks in this game. Let’s learn more about the Houston specialists that the Bulls will be facing off against.
Place kicker – At kicker is junior Kyle Bullard (5’11” 170 lbs.). He is 13 for 15 this season with a long of 51 yards and is 19 for 22 in extra point attempts (very accurate kicker). Behind him is sophomore Ty Cummings (5’10” 180 lbs.).
Punter – At punter is junior Logan Piper (6’1″ 200 lbs.) who has punted the ball 23 times, averaging 38.2 yards per kick and has a long of 54 yards. Junior Dylan Seibert (6’3″ 200 lbs.) has punted the ball 13 times, averaging 42.3 yards per punt and could see playing time vs. USF.
Long snapper – At long snapper is junior Nolan Frese (6’2″ 220 lbs.). Behind him is redshirt freshman tight end Byron Simpson (6’4″ 240 lbs.).
Holder – At holder is Dylan Seibert.
Punt return – At punt return is sophomore wide receiver Greg Ward Jr. (5’11” 178 lbs.) who has returned 9 punts for 63 yards. Now that he is taking snaps at quarterback, look for sophomore wide receiver Demarcus Ayers (5’10” 178 lbs.) to get the snaps at punt returner (can’t have your QB returning punts).
Kick return – At kick return is Ayers. He has returned 23 kicks for 417 yards on the season. Again, Ward was the other deep man to return kicks, but look for someone else to rotate in for him.
