USF MSoccer takes on Memphis

Posted: October 25, 2014 in Soccer

The Bulls, 9-4-1 (4-1-1), are back home to take on AAC home Memphis on Alumni/Military Appreciation night. The Tigers are 7-6-2 (1-4-1) on the year and will be looking for the late season road upset. USF will need to be ready for this game and come out swinging (game begins at 7:30 PM at Corbett).

Memphis is led by sophomore midfielder Raul Gonzalez who has 2 goals (43 shot attempts) with 5 assists on the season. Freshman forward Hector Cantele has 7 goals on the year (leads the team) on 26 shot attempts and has added 2 assists on the season. Senior forward Fakhry Khulfan has 5 goals on 25 shot attempts this year and has added 2 assists this year. Senior forward Benjamin Cisanski has 1 goal and has added 3 assists to round out their offensive attack. For Spasoje Stefanvoic, he will have to be sharp and watch out for Cantele and his aggressive front line.

In net for Memphis is junior Cody Uzcategui who has allowed 18 goals on the year while making 45 saves on the season. Uzcategui has faced a lot of shots this year and this is great news for the USF offense. I would expect Tyler Blackwood, Lucas Baldin, Edwin Moalosi and the rest of the offensive attack to come out aggressive and put the pressure on Memphis in this game. If they can go up early in this game, the defense will be able to settle in and dictate the pace of the game.
