USF WSoccer takes on UCF

Posted: October 10, 2014 in Soccer

The Bulls, 7-5-1 (2-2) on the year will be facing off against UCF, who enters this match at 11-2 (4-0). The Knights have won 8 in a row and will be a huge challenge for the Bulls who are trying to work their way up the conference standings (game begins at 8 PM at Corbett).

UCF is led by senior forward Tatiana Coleman who has 8 goals on the year (41 shot attempts) and has added 7 assists. Senior midfielder Jennifer Martin has 5 goals (40 shot attempts) and 6 assists on the year. Junior midfielder Ashley Spivey has 4 goals (25 shot attempts) and has 4 assists. Freshman forward Hannah DeBose has 5 assists on the year as well. For the USF defense, they will have to slow down an aggressive UCF front line that likes to pressure and take a lot of shots against the opposing keeper. USF has allowed 1.11 goals per game this year but UCF averages 2.23 goals per game. For the USF keepers, Thordis Aikman and Katarina Elliott, they will need to be at their best if they want to slow down this offense.

In net for UCF is junior Connie Organ. Organ has allowed just 7 goals all year while making 24 shots. Organ has been solid all year and with an aggressive front line, opponents do not get a lot of open looks on net against her. USF runs an aggressive style as well and is led by Olivia Chance and her 6 goals on the year. For the Bulls to stand a chance in this game, they will have to get quick counter strikes going and get the back line for UCF on their heels. Hopefully USF is able to get some shots off and counter the momentum of the Knights.
