USF WSoccer takes on Houston

Posted: October 3, 2014 in Soccer

The Bulls, 5-5-1 (0-2) on the year, are finally back home as they host Houston in a huge AAC game for USF. The Cougars are 1-3-4 on the year and 0-1 to start AAC play. The Bulls will try to get their first win in AAC play and end this short losing streak that they are currently on. The game begins at 7:30 PM at Corbett Field.

Houston is led by junior midfielder/defender Lexa Green who leads the Cougars with 3 goals (14 shots) and has added 1 assist on the year. Freshman defender Georgi Deloence has 1 goal on 10 shots and 1 assist on the year. Senior forward Kayla Walker has 2 goals on 7 shots on the season. Senior forward Alexis Weaver has 1 assist and has taken 8 shots on the year to round out their offense. The Bulls will need better play in net from either Katarina Elliot or Thordis Aikman, whoever gets the start.

In net is junior keeper Jordan Brown who has allowed 13 goals on the year while making 38 saves. Houston has allowed a lot of shots already on the year at their keeper, which is a great sign for the USF offense in this contest. I would expect the Bulls, led by Olivia Chance and company, to come out with a lot of energy and take the battle right at Houston. Hopefully they are able to find the back of the net a few times and help take the pressure off of the back line and keeper for USF.
