USF Volleyball takes on Troy and Auburn

Posted: September 13, 2014 in Volleyball

The Bulls enter the last day of the Active Ankle Challenge Tournament with a record of 2-5 as they hope to get some wins before heading home. USF won’t have an easy road with Troy (8-1 entering the tournament, played Auburn the night before) and host team Auburn (was 3-3, played Troy entering last night) both on the schedule. The Bulls face Troy at 10:30 AM and then Auburn at 8:30 PM.

Troy entered the tournament with a 8-1 record to start the tournament.

The Trojans are led by junior outside hitter Blair Winston who has 101 kills, 24 digs, and 14 blocks entering the tournament. Senior outside hitter Marija Zelenovic has 88 kills, 9 service aces, and 60 digs entering the weekend. Junior setter Tineille Waggoner has 259 assists and 24 digs to enter the weekend as well. Junior defensive specialist Ali Dowdall has 18 assists, 8 service aces, and 116 digs to round out their club entering weekend (keep in mind they play Friday night and will have updated stats before this game). Troy is a very good team and will be a major match-up issue for the Bulls.

After Troy, the Bulls then face Auburn (who entered the tournament at 3-3) late at night at 8:30 PM to end the tournament.

Auburn is led by freshman outside hitter Courtney Crable who has 63 kills and 27 digs entering the weekend. Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Campbell has 47 kills, 2 service aces, and 20 digs entering the tournament. Freshman setter Alex Filley has 8 kills, 200 assists and 49 digs entering the weekend as well. Junior outside hitter Mary Hann Arrington has 70 kills and service aces entering the weekend.

The Bulls should have an easier time in this game compared to Troy, but its still the home team and it won’t be easy. Let’s hope the Bulls can make some noise and get the big win on the road to close out the weekend.
