USF Volleyball takes on South Carolina State

Posted: September 7, 2014 in Volleyball

The Bulls enter the final game of the USF Invitational with a 1-4 record, splitting the two games on Friday. They will be facing South Carolina State who enters the game with an 0-6 record. The Bulldogs went 6-22 last year. For USF, this is a great chance to get a big win to help get their momentum going moving forward (game begins at 11 AM).

South Carolina State has struggled a lot this year. Their top player is junior outside hitter Marissa Lawrence. In her last game vs. FIU she led the way with 9 kills. With her is redshirt freshman libero Tyler Ockleberry who had 13 digs in the last game. Junior setter Melanie Williams had 15 assists in the last game as well (let’s be honest, their school website was a mess to find any stats on anyone. These are the the best I can roll with for this game).

For the Bulls, this is a game that they should and need to win. The loss to FIU was not pretty after their win over Buffalo so the Bulls will be looking to rise up in this one, shut it down, and get the big win. Let’s up Erin Fairs and crew and clean up and get the win.
