USF WSoccer takes on FGCU

Posted: August 31, 2014 in Uncategorized

The Bulls enter the game at 0-2-1 on the year, drawing a tie against Navy last time out. They will be facing FGCU who enters the game with a 2-0 record, coming off of a 2-1 win on the road at Miami last time out (game begins at 6 PM at Corbett).

FGCU is led by sophomore forward Tabby Tindell who has 2 goals on the year on 6 shots. Sophomore midfielder Paulin Speckmaier has 1 goal on 7 shots, giving the Ospreys two dynamic attacks on the front line. Sophomore defender Ashley Parks has 1 assist as well, coming up from the backline to help on the attack. In net is junior Brittany Brown who has made 11 saves on the year and allowed just 2 goals. For the Bulls, entering the game with just 1 goal on the year thanks to Demi Stokes, this will be another tough game to get the offense going. Pressure and pace will be key for the ladies in this game.

In net for USF will be Katarina Elliott. She has made 7 saves on the year while allowing 3 goals. She has established herself as the goalkeeper for the Bulls and has played well. The defensive backline has been up and down to start the year, putting pressure on the freshman keeper. If the Bulls are able to dominate the attack and control the pace, it will help take the pressure off of Elliott.

Let’s hope the ladies are able to get that elusive first win and get the offense on track in this game.
