USF Volleyball drops two games to start the season

The Bulls battled two of the best teams in the country and despite outstanding efforts from Erin Fairs and some of the talented freshmen, the Bulls dropped both games to both Purdue and LSU. 

The Bulls dropped the first game of the day to 8th ranked Purdue in 3 straight sets (25-17, 25-22, and 25-23). Erin Fairs had 11 kills, 9 digs, and 1 service ace. Dakota Hampton had 6 kills and 5 digs. Alexus Heidelberg had 6 kills and Bree Scarbrough had 5 kills. Natalia Soares had 16 assists and 2 digs while Wylie Devlin added 3 assists and 11 digs. Freshman Alex Mendoza had 12 assists and 6 digs in her collegiate debut.

The Bulls dropped the second game of the day, falling in 4 sets to LSU (25-16, 21-25, 22-25, 18-25) and dropping their overall record to 0-2 to start the year. Joli Holland had 7 kills and 6 digs. Erin Fairs posted a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Dakota Hampton had 5 kills and 3 digs and Jennica Mullins had 9 kills. Alexus Heidelberg had 8 kills and 3 digs. Natalia Soares had 22 assists and 9 digs. Alex Mendoza had 19 assists and 6 digs in another strong game. Bree Scarbrough added 8 kills and a dig.

The Bulls will face San Diego tomorrow at 4 PM.
