USF WSoccer takes on Florida on the road

Game two won’t be any easier for the Bulls as they hit the road.

The Bulls, 0-1-0, will hit the road for their second game of the year as they take on the Florida Gators in Gainesville (game scheduled for a 1 PM start time). UF is 1-0-0 on the year after beating Miami 3 to 0 in the first game of their season. USF is 0-3-1 all time against the Gators, posing a tough test in the early portion of the season for the Bulls.

The Gators dominated the Hurricanes in their opening win, holding the Canes to just 2 shots on goal the entire game. They dictated the temp of the game and will be aggressive right from the start against the Bulls.

Senior forward Jillian Graff had 2 goals in the opening win, coming off of a 1 goal total from last year. Sophomore forward Savannah Jordan had 1 goal in the opening win. Jordan was an All American as a freshman, was SEC Offensive Player of the year, and was 1st team All SEC. She led the Gators with 22 goals and will be a tough match up for freshman keeper Thordis Aikman and the back line of the Bulls. Senior midfielder Havana Solaun had an assist and one shot on goal in the last game. She was a 1st team All SEC member last year, adding 9 assists and 8 goals last season. Senior midfielder Annie Speese had an assist as well in the opening win and was an All SEC Freshman and was 2nd on the team last year in assists with 7 (had 1 goal as well). Overall, the Gators are a tough match for the Bulls. They will need a huge game out of everyone to keep the Gators in check.

In net is senior Taylor Burke. In the opening win she made just 1 save and was never challenged. She allowed 10 goals last year (.54 goals per game) in 19 games while making 47 saves (.825 percentage). Burke is a tough keeper to face and for the Bulls who struggled to get their offense going last time out could be in for another long game. They have to focus and try to make the limited shot attempts they will get count.
