From last night: USF WSoccer drops home opener to start season

The offense just couldn’t break through in the season opener for the Bulls.

In front of a crowd of 835, the USF Bulls weren’t able to get a shot through as they fell 1 to 0 to FAU in the season opener. The Bulls, 0-1-0, will have to regroup fast after this game as they face a tough road test at Gainesville on Sunday.

FAU struck in the 13th minute of the first half against the new freshman goal keeper Thordis Aikman. The Bulls would have plenty of chances throughout the night to try to score, but it just wasn’t their night. USF had 13 shots total including 8 shots on goal. Demi Stokes, coming off of the bench, had 2 SOG and Cristina Ferral had 3, but former Bull Sydney Drinkwater made 8 saves to keep USF off the board. Aikman allowed the 1 goal and made 4 stops on the night in her collegiate debut.

This is a game the Bulls will look back on and think what could have been. The chances were there and they couldn’t break through (this one hurts). There won’t be a lot of time for the Bulls to dwell on this game as they hit the road right away to go face the Florida Gators on the road on Sunday at 1 PM.
