Deatrick Nichols is a member of the 2014 recruiting class that enrolled early and participated with the team in the spring. He is a skilled corner that will try to push for playing time this fall as a true freshman.

#3 Deatrick Nichols – 5’10” 192 lbs. – Cornerback – Miami, FL (Miami Central HS)

2013: He was previously coached by USF assistant Telly Lockette back in high school. He had 20 tackles and 3 interceptions in his final high school year, missing several games due to injury. He totaled 105 tackles and 12 interceptions during his entire prep career.

2014 Bull Rush prediction: By enrolling early, Nichols has a leg up on other incoming freshman and has had time to learn the defense and hit the field. He is a very talented corner with good size and the Bulls are looking for playmakers at defensive back at this stage. With Kenneth Durden gone, the Bulls will need young players like Nichols to step up and find their way on the field. While Chris Dunkley and Johnny Ward appear to be the favorites to win starting corner spots, keep an eye on Nichols. He could find his way on the two-deep at some point during the year.
