It appears USF has named their starting quarterback for the season opener.

From USF Football – The wait for the starting quarterback to be named has ended. The official USF football account tweeted tonight that sophomore Mike White will be the starting quarterback to start the season vs. Western Carolina.

The 6’4″ 211 lb. sophomore out of Ft. Lauderdale started 5 games last year (6 games overall). White completed 93 out 175 pass attempts (53%) for 1083 yards including 3 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

White had been in a stiff competition with Steven Bench since the spring. Both quarterbacks had played well and had split time taking snaps with the first team offense throughout the fall. However at the end of the day, it appears that the sophomore rose above to take the starting job.
