Nate Godwin emerged last season in his freshman year, becoming a starting safety in the young Bulls’ secondary. 2014 could be a big year for the Tampa native.

#36 Nate Godwin – 5′ 10″ 197 lbs. – Sophomore – Safety – Tampa, FL (Freedom HS)

2013: Godwin appeared in all 12 games, starting 9 of them at the safety position. He finished the year with 49 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 interception, and 3 pass break-ups.

2014 Bull Rush Prediction: Godwin took over on the starting safety spots last year and didn’t give it back. Despite his youth, Godwin showed his skill set, both in the run game and back in pass defense. He had growing pains at times, which was expected from a true freshman, but he also showed a lot of potential as well. Now with a year of experience under his belt, look for a big season from Godwinin his second season. I expect him to win a starting job coming out of the fall and becoming a staple in the USF secondary.
