Per Report: USF football to add Kevin Bronson

Posted: July 3, 2014 in Football

Per reports, the Bulls will have a new member on the football team wearing one of these this season.

Per Corey Bender (Scout.com) – News is coming out this afternoon that 2014 Virginia Tech signee Kevin Bronson has been granted a release from his scholarship and will enroll at USF instead.

Bronson, a 3-star defensive end, out of Delray Beach, FL (Village Academy) was down to USF and Virginia Tech on signing day but decided at that time to head up to Blacksburg. Now it appears he has had a change of heart and will be playing much closer to home. As Corey Bender points out, Bronson’s weight is up to 265 (was 242 back in HS) and he is eligible to play right away.

This is a nice surprise for the Bulls. USF lost 4 defensive ends at the end of last year that had extensive experience (Lynch, Giddins, Forte, and Mims) leaving behind a fairly thin depth chart. While the Bulls are moving more towards a 3-4 type of defense, adding another talented defensive end to the roster is always an added plus.
