Per Joey Knight – Per Knight’s report, senior running back Mike Pierre will have to give up his football career due to an unspecified medical condition. The 5’10” 205 lb. back had 41 carries last year for 114 yards (2.8 yards per carry) and caught 3 passes for 32 yards. He had 74 yards rushing during the spring game.

With the departure of Pierre, the Bulls have even less experience in the backfield. It leaves just Darius Tice who had 35 carries for 141 yards last year, as the only returning back with a carry last year (Willie Davis is transferring to Tennessee Tech per Knight). The Bulls will have Sta’fon McCray along with true freshmen Marlon Mack and D’Ernest Johnson all looking to split the running load for the offense.

I wish Mike Pierre the best and hope nothing but great health and success wherever his life takes him next.

TBT: Jessica Dickson

One of the greatest student-athletes to ever play (on any team) in USF history, Jessica Dickson. Dickson was a monster on the hardwood, scoring 2402 points during her 4-year career, a number that no one has reached, even on the men’s side side. Her number 25 hangs in the rafters and will for a long time to come.

I was fortunate enough to watch her play during her career (ah yes, the old bleachers of the Sun Dome). During the 2005 season (I’m old, yes) my roommates and I would make our way over during a week night during the season to catch the games (had to escape Kappa). We watched an athlete dominate anyone that tried to guard her. She could drive and score and had one of the smoothest jump shots I have ever seen from watching the men or women play. She dominated every game and it was fun to watch.

Johnny Ward emerged last year, starting 3 games towards the end of the season as a true freshman. Could he win a starting job coming out of the fall camp? (more…)

Soccer is back! The 2014-15 season is back and the Bulls return to Corbett field in hopes of continuing their historic and winning ways. USF went 8-4-9 (2-2-4) last year in the AAC and won the first AAC conference tournament in dramatic fashion on penalty kicks over Uconn. The Bulls return a strong core group but do have a few areas of concern that Coach George Kiefer and staff will have to resolve. Let’s take a look at the 2014 team. (more…)

The 2014-15 soccer season is almost here! Coach Denise Schilte-Brown and her squad return to the field in hopes of improving off of a very successful 2013-14 season. The Bulls went 10-4-6 (4-3-2) last year and are hoping to get even further this season. USF returns with a loaded team, but does have several issues on the roster as they enter the season.  (more…)
