Tashon Whitehurst saw his playing time diminish last season as he switched sides from the WILL to the SAM linebacker position.

#51 Tashon Whitehurst – 6’3″ 215 lbs. – Junior – Linebacker – Gainesville, FL (Gainesville HS)

2013: Whitehurst recorded 6 tackles in 10 games, moving from WILL to the reserve SAM linebacker behind Reshard Cliett. In 2012, Whitehurst made one start (vs. Uconn, appeared in 10 games total) and recording 15 tackles including 1 sack. He was named Big East defensive player of the week after his start against Uconn.

2014 Bull Rush Prediction: Many (including myself)┬áconsidered Whitehurst as a promising young player that might have been penciled in as a starter at the beginning of last season, but that wasn’t the case. True freshman Nigel Harris won the WILL linebacker position and eventually Whitehurst was moved to the SAM position. His playing time was severely reduced throughout the year and heading into the fall, he will have to work hard to earn back the playing time. He will face an uphill battle with highly touted incoming freshman like Jimmy Bayes coming in.
